Welcome to Salento! A beautiful and magical place where you can take your first steps on a journey through the Italian language. When I was a child, one of my dreams was to explore the world without leaving my homeland, a place I love with all my heart. Now, teaching Italian to international students gives me the opportunity to live this paradoxical dream, but with an important improvement: I can show my wonderful land to my students and share with them the bond I have with Salento.

I am Federica Persano. I was born and raised in a small town here in Salento, and I studied International Relations at university. Now I’m a teacher at the Kids&Us School in Brindisi, where I have been thoroughly trained in the process of learning a new language. At the moment, I mostly work with babies and kids. My goal has always been to teach them the language in a spontaneous and playful way, and after five years in this field, I can say that I’ve achieved this and developed my own teaching methods! I guess the real challenge starts now that I want to do the same… but with adults!

Considering my background, this is exactly what I bring to the table: learning the language just like we did when we were kids—playing games, playing pretend, challenging each other and, most importantly, having fun in whatever way you prefer.

As a teacher, I am calm and patient, and I value building a genuine connection with my students. I want to create a warm and trusting environment, where my students feel safe and welcome at all times.

In my courses, you can expect to find insights into Italian culture, but most importantly, you will experience the atmosphere of Salento through its legends, food, music, and traditions. Naturally, the lessons can take place anywhere we deem appropriate, and I suggest continuing to explore the city while we learn. This way, you will be able to fully experience the Italian “passeggiata” as we go.
